Innovation Grants (formerly Mini-Grants)

Insert picture hereThe Mini-Grant program has been renamed. This new program name was announced on October 6, 2017.

Our approach to instruction is no longer mini.  Mini-Grant has grown up.  Our professional instruction at Ames is innovative not mini.  Our needs have grown beyond mini.  We now fund the INNOVATION GRANT!

I'd like to DONATE  to have immediate impact on the need of a classroom. (Donations to Mini-Grant (classroom needs) will go to the new program name INNOVATION GRANT!)  Thank you for your support as we stay current and help our classrooms in Ames.  We are not mini - We ARE AMES!

You may Donate to Innovation Grants online.  Click the above link, or

Send a check to:  Ames Education Foundation

The Ames Education Foundation annually awards funds to teachers throughout the Ames Community School District for educational needs in the classroom.  Teachers apply for the newly entitled Innovation Grant which is then reviewed by a committee comprised of Foundation trustees, teachers, and administrators. This has a positive impact on our students.  The Mini-Grant program started in 1990, and has awarded over $100,000 for classroom projects. (The Finn/Milleman Mini-Grant is selected by a committee of AHS students.  This is designed for educational reasons, and to expose students to this type of business process.)

There are two applications:
1.The Ames Education Foundation Innovation Grant, and
2. The Ames Education Foundation Finn/Milleman Innovation Grant.
-Ames Education Foundation Innovation Grant deadline for FALL 2017 is November 20, 2017.
-Ames Education Foundation Finn/Milleman Grant deadline for Fall 2017 is December 4, 2017.
This may be submitted via a hard copy through inter-office mail to our Foundation office at Ames High School.
Applications sent to teachers via staff email.
The Ames Education Foundation Innovation Grant includes the High Impact Award.  You could be awarded $1000 for your classroom.
Please take time to read about these students; the Finn/Milleman Mini-Grant is in their memory.
In Respectful Memory of Katie (Finn) Milleman (’98) and John Milleman (’94)
Katie (Finn) and John Milleman were graduates of Ames High School. They were honor roll students, involved in athletics, fine arts, student government and mentoring younger students. Katie was employed as an attorney at Fulbright and Jaworski in Austin, Texas. John was a Resident Physician Urologist at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. In September 2006, Katie and John lost their lives in a tragic car accident. Both the Finn and Milleman families have chosen to use the memorial funds donated to their respective families to provide an annual Mini-Grant to Ames Community Schools District.  We wish to thank the Finn and Milleman families for contributing to the continued education of our Ames Community students.
